I’m wandering and searching for hope
And sometimes, I just don’t know…
I’m walking alone in the dark
Looking for some kind of spark
Somewhere underneath the starry sky
I’ve just got to reach out and try
My days and my nights come and go
And still I have nothing to show
I’m strong, and I’ll continue to fight
Until this lone, forgotten wrong becomes right

Ice Shanty
02:07
|
|||
My father was the shantyman
Singing proud and strong
When the wind was right, the fish would bite
And the days would not be long
We’d gather up our gloves and boots
And put on winter clothes
The fire was stoked, then out the door
To the lake we knew below
.. Cut the holes and jig the poles
.. The perch are in the deep
.. Share a beer and have no fear
.. For tonight we’ll catch our keep
.. The walleyes will be comin’ soon
.. So clear the holes of slush
.. When the flags upon the tip-ups fly
.. Our hearts and feet will rush
The wind would bite when darkness fell
And the action soon would end
Our fingers froze, our face and toes
Our chores we must attend
We collected tackle, fish and cans
Into the buckets, they’d go
Then turning back into the wind
We’d trudge home through the snow
..
Home again by hearth and light
We’d thaw and have some stew
Fillet the fish and tell the tales
And have another brew
The work was done, the house was warm
And we’d gather ‘round the fire
And sing a toast, a hearty boast,
We’re the grandest angler’s choir

Summer Heat
00:46
|
|||
Now we could keep on talkin’
And sit right here
It’s a pleasant conversation
And this good old ice-cold beer
I wanna drive you to the edge of the ocean
Carry you, like a tune that’s in key
I wanna, breathe you in, like the mountain air
And sweat with you, in the summer heat

Abiding Dude

I wonder what she’ll do
I wonder what she’ll say
I wonder what will become
Of my yesterday
I wonder where I’ll go
I wonder what I’ll see
I wonder what the future
Holds for me
I wonder what’s inside me
I wonder who I am
I wonder what I’m doing
I don’t have a plan

Open Up Your Eyes
01:36
|
|||
I awaken
And I’m with you
Gazing at your face
Standing here, I’m waiting for the sun
Cursing at the
Rain
Falls upon our lawn
You lay, so lovely in your sleep
I shuffle to the kitchen, and
I make a pot of coffee for our
Trip
Up along the coast
Your smile, as we drive along
I’m dreaming of it now, as I’m
Cleaning up the kitchen, then I’ll
Dress
And see you start to stir
You turn, and open up your eyes
I smile as I’m thinking
Dreaming of this
Day
That never comes

On a boulevard in the city
The gentle breezes tousling her hair
She stood awhile, breathing in the springtime
At twenty-one, she didn’t have a care
Time and glory lay before
A beam of sunlight shone upon her now
She walked along the sidewalk with a purpose
Ignoring all the autos as they passed
Kittens tumbled sideways in the alley
Her beautiful reflection in the glass
Outside the window, many on the broad street
Inside, a man whose heart had skipped a beat
Time and glory lay before
A beam of sunlight shone upon her now
He dropped his pencil, ran out through the storefront
Straightening his hair, he cleared his throat
She stumbled as she saw him, and he caught her
And in that moment, they began anew
Time and glory lay before
A beam of sunlight shone upon her now

Listen Close
01:54
|
|||
The atmosphere is fallin’ down
And all around I hear the sound
The chickens wave their broken arms
We’re graduates from funny farms
Stand beneath the streetlight
And listen close, ‘cause you just might
Hear the music
Comin’ down in waves
Tonight the voices carry you
They’re sweeping you away
The rhythm pounding in your ears
Feel your body shake
The ceiling opens, nothing holds us down
So close your eyes it’s time to leave the ground
A plethora of glowing eyes
Is begging you to criticize
But you can’t hear them argue
While beauty fills the air around you
Rip the page right out’ the book
And then just take one long last look
Hear the music
Comin’ down in waves
Tonight the voices carry you
They’re sweeping you away
The rhythm pounding in your ears
Feel your body shake
The ceiling opens, nothing holds us down
So close your eyes it’s time to leave the ground

I Don't Wanna Leave
02:16
|
|||
The gravity of existence weighs on me
And I wonder, can I ever really be free
I’ve got bills to pay and responsibilities
Always on the run, always somewhere to be
Then I hear your voice
And I don’t wanna leave
Sometimes things add up and turn me around
I get lost in the haze, green things turn to brown
Or there’s too much light, too much struggle and sound
Tumbling sideways, I don’t know up from down
Then I see your face
And I don’t wanna leave

The foundation of the land
Liberty for ev’ry man
To pursue his happiness
And his grievances redress
These, the things that they believed
Is it still as ‘twas conceived?

At The End of It All
01:15
|
|||
Hollowed out too soon
Howl at the moon
Ghosts are haunting around my heart
Spread too thin, reach too far
After the fall
At the end of it all
I’ll be walking on home
I’ll be walking alone
I’ll be catching my breath, and choking back tears
Ignoring the rain, but feeling the pain
Because forever ended tonight

Facing The Truth
01:00
|
|||
Running, falling
Underneath the truth
Sunlight blinding
Facing my own failings
What have I got
To do for you
Baring my soul
My heart is out
Everything
I ever have to give
Wasn’t enough
I’ve got to
Face the truth
I’ve got to
Open my eyes

Well, I’m scrollin’ through the Facebook
And I’m talkin’ to the cat
I open up an email
And what the hell is that?
That lady ain’t got time for me
Guess I’ll just watch a show on Hulu
‘Cause she ain’t got no time for me
Well, I’m goin’ to the grocery store
To pick me up some food
I filled the cart with pizza
Chicken strips and booze
That lady ain’t got time for me
Guess I’ll just grab a flick from Redbox
‘Cause she ain’t got no time for me
Well, I’m goin’ to hear some music
Gonna check out some new bar
There’s no one ridin’ shotgun
I’m alone in this old car
That lady ain’t got no time for me
Gonna listen to the blues alone
‘Cause she ain’t got no time for me
